Bow Tie Love

The bow tie is a staple in every preppy man's wardrobe. We pull them out when many others opt for a traditional tie. The bow tie became popular by the French during the 18th century, and today still has an air of old-world charm that surrounds it. I find that they have become a bit whimsical in nature, often offered in bright colors and fun prints. The bow tie always makes for a fun option. Lilly Pulitzer has a few bow ties in its spring line, but I wish there were more choices, but what's a preppy guy to do?

Color on Black Friday and Turning 1

While we didnt do our normal "midnight madness" at our usual spot (we all opted to sleep instead!) I did go to the mall...I mean I have to do at least a little shopping on Black Friday after all. I took the opportunity to visit the Lilly Pulitzer store and grab the men's resort stuff. You may remember me saying I wanted a few things.

You can never have too many polos

or too many ties. They will come in handy if I survive business school

Im just going to take a moment to wish my little blog a happy 1 year birthday :)...heres to a new year of hopefully interesting stories, expanding, and fun

Let's Usher in Summer

all images via

My summers usually consist of a lot of sun, some time at the beach, a lot of time by the pool, fires on the patio, rooftops if I was in the city, and lots of preppy attire. (today was National Wear your Lilly Day.) Any exciting summer plans lined up??

Outfit to usher in the first day of summer: light purple Bill's khakis corduroy shorts, Check Lilly Pulitzer wyeth shirt, Louis Vuitton damier belt, prada drivers. #perfection

Just a reminder that it would be awesome if I could get 100 followers by the end of june!:)

Perhaps the Biggest #WhiteKidProblem

Im sure we all follow @whitekidproblems on Twitter right?? Its just too funny. I feel like my life and a lot of those surrounding are faced with these "white kid problems" on at least a daily basis. The biggest of these "problems" is the ongoing debate of choosing the Blackberry or iPhone.

I was the kid who had a Blackberry starting in 8th grade (make all judgements now :) ). I used it religiously until the iPhone 3G came out, and decided to make the switch. The iPhone had all the cool apps and was the new "it" piece of technology, and we always like to be up to date. The iPhone however did not sync well with my email since I did not use Gmail or any of other other platforms that sync perfectly with the iPhone. I was deleting my emails twice, if i deleted it on my computer it would not delete on my iphone, ect.....I missed my Blackberry and its ability to sync perfectly with any email client.

3 months later I switched back to a new Blackberry. I've continued to use a Blackberry and BBM has become an essential, but I am at that point where I am ready for an iPhone yet again. Especially after Apple's exciting announcements about iCloud and iMessage yesterday I know I will be switching again in the near future. Since the time I had an iPhone there are waaay more features and waaay more apps.

Who knows, maybe a few months later I be wishing i still had a blackberry. I just cant decide! #whitekidproblems

Too Much is Never Enough: Swim Trunks

It is almost pool and beach time. The official start of summer, Memorial Day, is only a week away. I practically live in bathing suits in the summer- I have a lot of them. Most of them being Lilly of course. Here's just a very small look at my collection:

Too Much is Never Enough: Lilly Shorts

Its a few days into May (cannot believe it). So the weather should start get warmer, and stay warmer any day now. Warm weather and the arrival of summer can only mean one thing in the preppy world, Lilly time.

I have an entire drawer nicely folded stuffed full of all Lilly shorts. Im thinking i have between 15-20 pairs at least? Just an estimate.

Here are a few of my favorites

A Lesson From Lilly

I thought this would be interesting and fun to share. One of my favorite prints from the Lilly Pulitzer spring collection is this one here:

one of my new swim trunks!
Lilly always names their prints with great creativity and they also relate to whats going on in the print. So, this print has flamingos. When i saw the name of the print was "peel and heat" I couldnt figure out why that was the name...neither could my sister.

but if you look closely.....

theres little shrimp mixed in there as well, and someone informed me that flamingos eat shrimp. Finally, it all made sense! I did a little research on flamingos and shrimp and wikipedia informed me of the following:

"flamingos filter-feed on brine shrimp and blue-green algae...the pink or reddish color of flamingos comes from cartenoid proteins in their diet of animal and plant plankton..."

Who knew??

You learn something new everyday!

Lonny Mag Loves Lilly

Lonny Magazine, an online publication, recently featured Lilly Pulitzer in its issue. Thought this would be something fun to share. If you haven't heard of Lonny before, you will probably become obsessed and keep reading it!

The page below explains how all the prints for the designs are made....in house. Each print is designed and painted by hand compliments of the in-house print team which many people do not know exists! They're so talented.

The last page of the write up features the wonderful KOP store. The captured all the elements from the summer remodel. From the zebra bathroom to the Philadelphia toile fitting room, the KOP store is truly a real life showcase of the wonderful print team.
