East Hampton Coastal Style

Our East Hampton house was decorated in the ideal east coast coastal aesthetic. The home was inviting with dark floors and white walls with nautical touches of navy and white stripes throughout the home. Interior design was never a huge interest of mine, however, creating a great interior space that pulls together a complete look has become much easier with places such as C.Wonder and One Kings Lane.

When I think of Hamptons style, I think of easy and livable yet sophisticated. This of course includes of touch of refinement and modernity. The coastal aspect can be represented through the color scheme (blues and whites with accents of red) or small decorative accents throughout the home. I like the idea of anchoring a room with a large, light brown rug that plays well against the whites and blues. The element of wood can also be a great touch and also symbolic of the surrounding as the Hamptons does have a lot of trees and forest such as the north woods in East Hampton.

The nautical and coastal style theme has become a popular choice for decorative accents and is a go-to style for any beach home. Finding great pieces at good prices is fun and easy with the array of online home decor sites. Here are a few of my selections to incorporate a nautical touch into your home.

Pieces to Add Hints of Coastal Style in Your Home:

1. Sea Horse Table Lamp by Jonathan Adler: A lamp is a great way to bring a theme to a room. I love the subtleness of this lamp with its all white color scheme.

2. Nautical Flag Coasters by C.Wonder: Any bar and end table is not complete without a set of great coasters. This set by C.Wonder is extremely affordable and who doesn't love a great sailor's flag motif?

3. Vintage Pond Boat: Bringing a bit of old into any interior design, especially when mixed with modern pieces, is a great look. This vintage boat would make the perfect accent on an foyer table and focal point in a sitting room.

4. Anchor Guest Towels by Mark & Graham: Do not forget to keep the theme running throughout the entire home...including the guests! These towels are an easy way to spruce up the bathroom.

5. Butler Tray Table by Jonathan Adler: This piece is stylish and sophisticated as well as versatile. Use it in the living room as an end table or near the bar or outdoors as a serving table for drinks. The bamboo-esque legs are reminiscent of a lush beach.

Celebrating July 4th in the Hamptons

This summer has turned out to be quite hectic with all the responsibilities of post-grad life. A recent vacation to the Hamptons was much appreciated and a much needed break from reality. Spending the week in East Hampton was the perfect way to to end June and celebrate the 4th of July.

The Hamptons for me represent a simplistic beauty, especially within such a close distant to the city and other surrounding areas. The tip of Long Island is absolutely stunning with sprawling beaches, vineyards, and beautiful sunsets. Enjoying the Hamptons is also about embracing the quintessential northeast coastal style, an aesthetic which was well represented in our East Hampton home.

Many have a highly glamourous image in their minds when they think about the Hamptons, however, there is also a casual vibe an aspect at the same time. I love being able to run around town in swim trunks straight from the beach, or grab coffee after a morning workout. It is not always about the all-white outfits and designer bags. What I enjoyed about my most recent trip out east was venturing into Amagansett and Montauk, two neighboring towns which I had not previously visited. I have to say, our dinner at Ruschmeyer's was probably my favorite!

It was a bummer to miss the annual fireworks in Southampton because of the hurricane, but mother nature made up with a beautiful day on Saturday. Simply the perfect beach day!

End of Summer in the Hamptons

The Hamptons is the perfect place to celebrate the last rays of summer and is the go-to spot to do so for many Mahattanites. I went to East Hampton for one last summer moment over Labor Day weekend. Unfortunately the weather wasn't ideal- cloudy yet very humid. However, that made for even more reasons to shop the stores of East Hampton such as Ralph Lauren, J.Crew, and Blue & Cream.

Now, its back to reality and the bustle of the city as we embark on fall. How did you celebrate Labor Day?

Classically East Hampton

The Eastern end of Long Island is filled with some of the best natural spaces, especially during the summer month. The Hamptons are the perfect weekend getaway from the sweltering heat of the city during summer months.

This past weekend I spent in East Hampton. It is one of my favorite towns to spend weekends in. The weather was perfect for the beach- no clouds and a slight, persistent breeze. I spent the day on the beach and then lunched and shopped in town. A perfect way to pass a summer day if I say so myself.

East Hampton has a very specific aesthetic that is easily recognizable, as pictured above. A lot of the homes are constructed from light grey wooden shingles as they line the beach. It is home to Main Beach as well, one of the top rated beaches in the country. It is very scenic and perfect for taking walks. Additionally, as you drive or walk through down, you will instantly notice all of the hydrangeas. It seems like almost every picket fence has a row of the colorful flower in a shade of white, blue, or purple in front of them. A shingled house with a white fence and hydrangeas, now that;s classically East Hampton.

A Weekend In The Hamptons

The weather has been very unfriendly on the East coast- a fluctuation between very high humidity and thunderstorms and cooler temperatures. Not much sun to say the least. This past weekend, however, the clouds parted and made way for abundant sunshine, the perfect weekend to visit the Hamptons.

The Hamptons is one of the places to be during the summer and summer weekends on the East coast. They are notorious for their beautiful waterfront mansions and effortless, chic sense of style. Dressing for the Hamptons is half of the effort of going!

I visited East Hampton. It is just as you see in picture, a beautiful, small resort town with all the charm to match. The small town is filled with great stores such as Ralph Lauren, Lilly Pulitzer, and Brunello Cucinello. In addition, East Hampton is home to the renowned Main Beach which was gorgeous on Saturday. So what did I wear in the Hamptons?

I went with an outfit that screamed "Hamptons"- seersucker shorts, pink polo, and cable cashmere sweater. All by Ralph Lauren. I highly recommend escaping the city heat and enjoying the sun while shopping and strolling the beautiful streets or soaking up on the sun on the beaches in the Hamptons. A true summer destination.

Guest Post: Chic Fashion in the Hamptons

As summer came to a close for many of us this past weekend, weeks at the beach are no longer an option. Now, we look forward to the weekend and those 3 day getaways from the craziness of work and class.

Alex of Alex's Jounreys put the following piece together on Hamptons fashion year round:

While summer comes to a close on the coastal summer getaways, the time to put away swim suits and sandals and trade them for the warm layered fashions we’ve been dreading at every BBQ event this season has arrived. Here in the Hamptons, the best spring and summer fashions remain casual but chic for fall. Unlike uptown styles, fashion here has a more relaxed feel. Nautical inspiration drives fashion in the Hamptons, even through the early fall, continuing to reflect the importance of the water in our lives and excursions here.

For those who enjoy Hamptons real estate during the summer and fall, daytime fashions for the season offer luxurious simplicity with natural fibers and straight-forward designs. Daytime styles include nautical-striped tops in short or long sleeves, perhaps paired with skinny jeans or modern cut chinos. For a step up in style, add a blazer and the combo works for a beachside luncheon or an evening out.

While enjoying your time in the Hamptons in the spring and summer, high-heeled sandals are an absolute must. Even the most casual outfits step up their formality when paired with the right shoes. Add a stack of nautical-themed bracelets to the right pair of heels, and suddenly cuffed chinos and a polo shirt evolve into evening dress.

Those wishing to mirror the floral colors and shapes of spring and summer in the Hamptons will also find plenty of vogue options. Fluid skirts in earthy or jewel tones paired with a matching knit top are perfect for breezy afternoons. Addition of a matching floppy hat and lightweight scarf, provides the perfect finishing touch to a beachy fall look.

Day or night, these fall fashions provide the ideal answer to what to wear this season in the Hamptons. Whether enjoying a beachside bash or a day on deck, these versatile fashions are sure to keep the wearer looking chic.
