  • Finding an internship is officially the most competitive/hardest thing to do.
  • I did some impromptu cooking with a friend this week. I must say, my kitchen skills surprise. We created this end product:

  • The official unofficial start to summer is only about a month away...did I mention I cant wait for summer?? :)

A One Class Day

College schedules can be a bit crazy: 4 classes one day, none the next day, and 1 class the following day. Yesterday happened to be one of those one class days for me. The weather was a bit cool for late April so it was the perfect opportunity to ditch the huge bag filled with books for 4 classes and replace it with a document pouch and put on a Brooks Brothers sweater and quilted jacket.

Jacket: Belstaff
Denim: Strategic Business Unit, Italy
Shoes: Sperry

Poche Document: Louis Vuitton
Sweater: Brooks Brothers

5 Random Monday Thoughts

April 23 or March 23? When I look out the window I cannot tell the difference: grey skies abound and rain is pounding on the windows. Not to mention its only 50 out.

  • It never fails, when the weather swings up and down I become sick, and so here I lay in my bed with a fever and sore throat. I didnt have time for illness!
  • Was it the weather or the fact that up was up way too late on Friday- I couldnt help it though. Who would leave the club they were at if the Kardashians were there??
  • A little over a week until I get the keys to my very own apartment!
  • Im not one to delete numbers from my phone, but some situations just demand it. I must admit, its quite liberating.
  • My summer plans are still not finalized, but the anticipation is mounting nonetheless...only about 2 more weeks!!

one a side note: be sure to check out HAZE Magazine, a new publication focusing on downtown New York debuting this spring. You can also check them out on Twitter and Pinterest

First Taste of Summer

It was really feeling like spring here earlier this week, even more so it was feeling like summer.
I was lucky to be able to spend Monday afternoon and Tuesday lounging in the park in 75 degree weather.

Ive mentioned it many times before, but summer is my favorite season for clothes. Namely because of seersucker and drivers. Tuesday was the perfect day for a little early summer dressing- chambray, polos, and drivers. An ideal combination.

shorts: J. Crew
Belt: Gucci
Polo: Lacoste
Shoes: John Varvatos

Ralph To Outfit London

Ralph Lauren will again be the official outfitter for the US Olympic team in London. The Olympic Collection can be shopped on the website, and as always it is filled with some great pieces. In my opinion, the partnership is perfect. Whom better than to outfit the US team than such an iconic man in classic, American styling??

Being caught up in school among other things, I almost forgot that the games are just around the corner. Cue the handy countdown on the RL website: Only 99 days. While some of my friends may be attending the games, I wont be able so Ill just have to live vicariously through them.

Heres a few of my favorites from the collection. The entire collection can be viewed here

Spring Around Town

It's fun to stop and slow down a bit and take note of the signs of this beautiful season. Weather its flowers in full bloom, gorgeous weather, or making the transition from hot to iced Starbucks the signs of spring are everywhere. It really is one of the best seasons. And everything always looks a little better through instagram.

5 Random Monday Thoughts

It feels like summer here today, simply put. Why must I be stuck inside virtually ALL day...I mean im not paying attention in class anyway.

  • Im not into the whole astrology thing, but I think every planet must be in retrograde or something...what is up with people lately?!? I took a whirlwind less than 24 hour trip home this weekend because I had to get away from people.
  • Speaking of home, it is always the best no matter what fabulous life you take up elsewhere.
  • I cannot focus to save my life recently...too many exciting things within the coming months!! Can school just end??
  • Im itching to buy new summer clothes, but must stay focused on the fact that I have an apartment to furnish
  • Fakeness has been abundant recently- anyone else notice this??

I have my loafers on today, and while they are not penny loafers, perhaps the luck of a heads of penny is what I need.

Tom Ford's List

Let's be honest: Tom Ford is a genius. If you dont think so Im not sure what planet you are living on. In the 15th anniversary edition of Vogue UK, Ford put together a list he entitled "15 Things Every Man Should Have"

What was on the list?
A sense of humor
A daily read of the newspaper

Itching To Get Out

The weather has been playing a lot of games lately- semi warm one day, completely sunny, not too nice the next, 70 the following day. However, with every hint of warm weather my spring fever is getting worse and worse. Im just itching to get outside and spend a day in the sun, perhaps laying by the water on the Westside Highway.

I think April is pretty notorious for a lack of motivation as we are all beginning to get into summer mode and thoughts of relaxing, tanning, and vacation fill our heads. Its the vain of my existence at the moment. Those 3 French papers I have to write? Nah, I'll just look out the window instead and prepare to talk a little stroll downtown.

I dont think there is a better way to get out and enjoy spring than in bold colors with pants cuffed up and riding a bike:

5 Random Monday Thoughts

Here we are already a week into April..how is it the 9th already?!? Hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend. I wasnt able to get home for the holiday which is always a bummer.

  • Im really over the whole concept of "friends when its convenient"
  • After a pretty much homework free weekend, schools about to get crazy again! :/
  • Ive been spending so much time looking at furniture and things for my new apartment. I decided I want to frame an Hermes scarf as art...thought?
  • I dont usually get too into trends, but I am loving all the colored mens pants from brands such as Adriano Goldschmied and J Brand. But lets be honest, ill probably wear anything that is a pastel!
  • Summer, can you please arrive quickly?!

Im really understanding the importance of doing whats right for you, not someone else

Carded

Being that type of person that never uses cash, I always have a ton of cards on me: American Express, Visa,  debit, Starbucks- you name it, I probably use it. I love card cases because they provide a place for you to stuff all those cards and a little bit of cash for those unexpected emergencies, but take up virtually no space.

I have quite a collection of card cases since I do not use wallets that often. Heres what im currently using:

As I mentioned, they are the perfect size for carrying the essentials instead of having a huge wallet filled with so many unnecessary things bulging in your pocket.

Do you use card cases as an alternative to wallets?

French Obsession

I must be honest, I cant think of something thats French that I do not like. Well maybe my French homework, but thats beside the point. Some of my all time favorites are French houses: Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Martin Margiela. I also do love wine and cheese.

However, Im currently loving another French brand: Diptyque. Have you heard of them? You are a Parisian based fragrance company, and their products smell absolutely amazing. $90 for a candle may be a bit steep, but with a name like "Essence of John Galliano" (my favorite), why not? I was recently surprised with a gift from Diptyque :).

C'est parfait

5 Random Monday Thoughts

Its been one of those Mondays...hence my evening post. So out of character for me!!

  • I cannot believe its already April...and Easter is this weekend. How did that sneak up so quickly?!?
  • My apartment search may be over...fingers crossed!!
  • Advanced Style. This is possibly the greatest thing ever...and theres a documentary coming out.
  • If I never have to do a group project for the rest of my life, Id be ok
  • The "reply all" function should be used sparingly

This basically is the summary of my life:
