5 Random Monday Thoughts

And so we start another dreary, humid week here in the city.

  • The Olympics! I have been super busy and havent had much time to watch, but Im getting pretty in to them. Watching them is also making me want to travel so badly.
  • The calendar is just about to turn to August, and Im already feeling the stress of school coming. Perhaps its the $700 textbook bill?
  • Ive been taking full advantage of restaurant week here in the city
  • Interviews, Interviews, Interviews!
  • Within the past week or so I dont remember that last time I got to sleep in past 7am. Early morning's in the city do provide for some great scenes:

SUPER Linda Brunch

Brunch isn't just a thing in New York. Instead its a full on verb and afternoon activity. This past weekend I headed to the TriBeCa hotspot SUPER Linda for brunch to celebrate a friend's birthday. Just to inform you, our brunching lasted 3 hours!

SUPER Linda is a latin restaurant, but they run a brunch special. For $30, you get unlimited drinks for 2 hours and an item from a limited menu selection. Yes, you read that correctly, unlimited drinks! In New York, we like to call this "Boozy Brunch". Im sure you know we all did that!

The blood marys were flowing all around. Im not a huge fan of latin food with all the peppers, etc. so I opted to get the pancakes. (Which wasnt a bad choice considering I was not hungover). It was so much fun and we are all planning another brunch there soon!

5 Random Monday Thoughts

The last full week in July! Its crazy how the summer months peel off the calendar. August, can you please pass by a little more slowly?

  • Ive been lacking in the blog department. Sorry! My summer is been super busy...but in a good way!!
  • The internship search is one yet again.
  • Im dying to see the Kusama exhibit at the Whitney. Has anyone seen it?
  • Boozy Brunch happened this weekend...an amazing New York activity.
  • Ive been taking time to just reflect on a lot of things, and occasionally right down my thoughts. I highly recommend it.

Le Cirque Restaurant

Friends were in town the other night, and as a group  we havent been able to get together for a while since many have been in Europe the past few months. Since we were all here, we decided to do a nice dinner and head to Le Cirque. Le Cirque is one of those famous Manhattan restaurants that you hear about, and get jealous when your friends go! So we decided we had to try it.

The location is very cool, the ambiance and atmosphere are even better. It was a late week night so it wasnt too crowded. We all started off with different appetizers. I had a pasta dish with goat cheese, chicken for my entree, and a strawberry dessert.

All in all, the service was great, but being completely honest, the food is nothing to rave about in my opinion. When you see the prices, you expect something really amazing. I have other restaurants I like with better food for a MUCH lower price. Its definitely one of those places you have to experience at least once though!

Interview Essentials from an "Unprofessional"

I have multiple interviews set up over the next couple of days, and while I am by far no expert on interviewing, I have had my fair share of interviews with big names.
I had one this morning, so my mind is fresh on the topic. Let me just say, dressing for an interview in the city in 90 weather is not fun! Naturally, I just wanted to wear my Lilly shorts and boat shoes, but we all know that isnt an option.

So what are my interview essentials?
  • Resume, cover letter, any other documents...2 copies each!
  • Knowledge of the brand...do your research before hand
  • I like to use a document case instead of a large bag. More professional in my opinion (pictured below)
  • CONFIDENCE
  • Prepare questions in advance to show your interest in the brand

Happy Interviewing!

Balmain SS 13

Men's spring collections went down the runways of Milan and Paris a few weeks ago. I am obsessed with the Balmain SS 13' collection. Im normally a classic dresser. Think completely Ralph Lauren. However, Balmain is, in my opinion, the perfect mix of classic with that touch of parisian chic and edgy. Leave it to the French houses to master that.

Heres some of my favorite looks from the collection:

Riding in Style

Biking around town is the new "it" thing to do. Its "green", scenic, and costs less than other transportation....or does it?
Gucci creative director Frida Giannini has teamed up worth Italian bike maker Bianchi to bring the "Bianchi by Gucci"

The 2 speed, white frame model pictured above goes for $5,000. Thats even more than the Hermes Bike. However, this is not the only model. An all black carbon frame model can be purchased for $14,000.

So strap on those signature red and green web gloves and lets go for a ride....in full luxury Italian style.

5 Random Monday Thoughts

Im back from vacation and back to the grind.....oh how I miss the sand between my toes.

  • Im happy to say I officially have tan skin so I actually look like its July and not February. Who knows how long it will last!
  • Vacation was definitely refreshing, but SO hot. I met some friends and one said I was giving off a very "refreshing" energy. I guess thats what the beach does to one.
  • Lets not talk about how fast summer is flying by.
  • Im excited for the Olympics to get underway. Although I will just be wishing I was in London. Ive been wanting to travel so badly.
  • The men's SS 2013 runway shows in Milan were amazing. I especially loved Hermes
